Dear Supporter of Arab West Report:

The upcoming months figure to be an especially transformative period for Egypt. By this summer, Egypt will have formulated a new constitution, seated an upper and lower house of parliament, and elected a new president to lead the country.

And as Egypt plots its course for the future, we here at the Arab-West Report plan to be equally busy, keeping an eye on Muslim-Christians relations throughout Egypt's volatile, but important, revolution process.

In the past year, we have hosted peace-building workshops, conducted fact-finding trips to investigate sectarian violence, published media critiques, covered Egypt's presidential elections, added to our collection of AWR Papers, and interviewed various Islamist leaders and presidential candidates.

We have several goals for the upcoming year. We will compile on extensive analysis of Egyptian Islamist political parties and presidential candidates. We will also continue to engage with Islamists, since it is obvious from the outcome of the elections that they are a force to be reckoned with and understood. In addition, we will continue to host workshops on a variety of topics, as well as work with student interns, giving special attention to the changing Christian demographics in Egypt.

AWR has always relied on the support like-minded individuals in order to do our work, and we again need your help to continue carrying out these and other goals to help increase understanding between Muslims and Christians.

Won’t you consider donating financially to our work? Your tax-deductible donation of $50, $100 or whatever amount you can afford will help us accomplish our goals in 2012. Payments can be made through PayPal or by transfer to the bank account of the Arab West Foundation in The Netherlands.

If you can’t afford to make a financial contribution, consider helping us by volunteering your time by editing, proofreading and promoting our work. Volunteer positions are available, both in our Cairo office and via working online.

We also continue to look for qualified interns who have always played an integral part of our operation. Send us an email at [email protected] if you or someone you know would like to help.

AWR thanks you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Cornelis Hulsman

Founding Director, Arab West Foundation
