The Coptic Orthodox Church has issued a new non-periodical magazine entitled, Urthudhuksīyatī [My Orthodoxy], which aims to defend the church’s religious beliefs against attacks from other churches.
The article discusses the tradition of gathering in the mountaintop church north of Minya, Upper Egypt. The church is said to be along the route that the Holy Family took through Egypt.
The author highlights the issues surrounding houses of worship, specifically the problems that arise when the state claims that the church has no legitimate license.
The annual celebration of the journey of the Holy Family was held in the Upper Egyptian village of Mallawi in Minya governorate. Diplomats from different Western countries and tourists participated in the celebration alongside Egyptians.
Decree no. 5755/2009 is issued, stipulating that the name of the village of Deir Abu-Hinnis will remain unchanged.
