The results of the first round of the parliamentary elections took Sohag by surprise, as ten former members of parliament, including al-Wafd Party General Secretary Mūnīr Fakhrī ‘Abd al-Nūr, were knocked-out by newcomers. The winners include one Copt and one independent candidate.
