AWR Interns
AWR has a good record of supporting interns in their studies, including students from Canada, USA, Germany, Ireland, Syria, China, Korea, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Afghanistan, Switzerland, the UK as well as Egypt. We invite applications from individuals and organisations are interested in internships (and sponsoring internships) at Arab-West Report.

AWR will help interns to find living accommodation close to our offices - however we do not provide financial assistance.
The Work Opportunities
- Internship agreements are usually for between 2 and 12 months.
- 40 hour work week (flexible hours with usually at least 6 hours per day, 5 days per week).
- Tasks could include one or more of the following activities, which would be agreed between the intern, their sponsor organization and the Editor-in-Chief of AWR:
- Researching influential personalities and writing biographies for the AWR library (which could include interviews, on-line and library research, etc.)
- Researching and writing profiles of organizations
- Researching and writing commissioned reports in area of interest.
- Coordinating with international partner organizations.
- Helping to write project and funding proposals.
- Writing for newsletters and promotional materials.
Intern Profile
Internships are open to students of Arabic and Islamic studies, Middle East Studies, political science, sociology, cultural anthropology and intercultural dialogue with a focus on the Arab world, as well as opportunities for students of journalism, information technology (databases, librarians), marketing, etc.
Preferred skills and experience:
- A good general knowledge of (and interest in) the subject of Arab-West and Christian-Muslim relations.
- Excellent standards of English (both spoken and written).
- Knowledge of Arabic would be a great asset but it is not essential.
- Advanced computer and internet research skills.
- Good experience of writing for a variety of audiences (all interns are required to agree to the publication by AWR of material produced during the internship).
