Egyptian Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will run for president, al Sisi told
a Kuwaiti newspaper, Ahram reported Feb. 6. Al Sisi was recently promoted to
field marshal from general, a move that could allow him to retain control over
the country's powerful military while ruling as a civilian.
