Egyptian Churches renewed their interest in the Personal Status Law draft by forming a number of working groups and advisory committees. 

During the conference organized last week by the Egyptian Democratic Institution to observe the parliamentary performance, a consensus was met by the participants on the importance of solving the issue of separate laws that govern the lives of Egyptian Christians torn between the state and the church decisions. The meeting witnessed a number of disagreement between the view of the church and that of the civilian and legislative one on how to implement the new law without jeopardizing the substantial meaning of a Christian family.
