The long-awaited parliamentary election, starting on Oct. 18-19, witnesses many of the candidates who were prominent political faces from the era of the president Mubarak who was toppled by the January 25 Revolution in 2011. It also witnesses the absence of the banned Muslim Brotherhood group and its hardcore supporters, who are likely to boycott the vote while Egyptians who had backed the group became disillusioned with it during Mursi's troubled rule.
