While international concern on the conditions of human rights in Egypt has not rested yet, the new Egyptian anti-terror law was condemned by a number of human rights organizations after its ratification by the government on Monday, August 24. They (the organizations) fear that some measures in the country's new anti-terrorism law would have a significant detrimental impact on “fundamental human rights”. Meanwhile, Egypt's Foreign Ministry responded to those criticisms in an official statement affirming Egypt's " independent” decision-making and rejecting foreign criticism of the law that indicates “international failure in understanding specifics about the legislation and inaccurate reading of its articles to questions posed on law articles”.
