Perhaps no prominent personality has been more criticized by political powers since the sparked January 25 Revolution like Ahmad al-Zend. His provocative comments over the years made him reputed for inflammatory statements, like “We [judges] are the masters and the rest are the slaves”. Although, he claimed that his statement was misunderstood, Al-Zend is not only known to oppose the appointment of the sons of rubbish collectors as judges, but he is also a passionate advocate of passing on judicial positions to the sons of judges, claiming that he would not stop the 'holy march' [of appointing sons of judges] to the judiciary'.
