Rights report about increasing human rights violations in Egypt
The Arab Organization for Human Rights in Britain has published a report noting a number of protestors have died in prison after having been detained arbitrarily. In its report, the organization calls for greater protection of citizen’s rights. In the first three months of the year, 46 citizens have been shot by the police during protests against the government. As for the S’aīd and the Sīnāi, the report claims 324 people have been killed, while a military report for the same period claims only 54 deaths. Human rights violations were also witnessed in prisons as 22 detainees died from the result of torture or neglect. A further 1451 people, including women and children, have been arrested arbitrarily with another 135 in the Sīnāi. The organizations clarified that the information for the report came from trusted officials and not from statistics or field research teams.
