A couple of weeks ago Ayman ʿAbd al-Rahīm wrote three articles on “why the Brotherhood should be dissolved”. Responding to this, Hāmid argues that a focus on the Muslim Brotherhood misses the point, namely the variety of political Islams in Egypt. Furthermore, dissolution of the Brotherhood at the moment would leave the now increasing state oppression with no real opposition, and would hence create a dangerous political imbalance.
