In recent days, a number of foreign embassies have urged the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take serious steps to address the country’s record on human rights. It was stressed that failure to do so will continue to hinder the development of relations between Egypt and other foreign countries. This is in spite of the close cooperation which currently exists between these nations and President ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ al-Sīsī on many issues in the region.
