The bishop wrote his letter immediately after a judge decided to release 87 suspects for the murder of 21 Christians and one Muslim in the village of Al-Kosheh. The bishop gives an overview of the events that took place in el-Kosheh and concludes "If the guilty is not punished, and the criminals are exonerated of their crimes, and the victim is blamed, why should we not expect these events, or worse, to be repeated against us? This is what we expect will happen to us soon." These expectations show the social climate in el-Kosheh is still very much poisoned.
