Aḥmad al-Sa‘dāwī writes

about the conditions of Christians in Egypt following the 1967 defeat. He claims that after 1967, the church in Egypt

resorted to the ideology that called for the necessity of supporting the political discourse along with the Islamic

institutions. The church has resorted to the policy aimed at unifying the nation and the people who have lost faith and

confidence after the defeat and, in return, resorted to religion as a substitute.
