Tens of young lawyers protested in front of the Bar Association demanding that Kāmīliyā Shihātah, the wife of Dīr Mawās’ priest, show up to declare whether she converted to Islam or not.

On the other hand, Holy Synod bishops refused to comment on the claims regarding Kāmīliyā's conversion to Islam, stressing that the protest could stir sectarian fitnah as the demonstrators repeated offensive words against Pope Shenouda.
