The Naj‘ Hammādī incident that saw the death of six Copts still plays a huge role in stirring fitnah between Copts and parliamentary candidate ‘Abd al-Rahīm al-Ghūl, who is believed by some to be involved in the incident on the premise of his alleged friendship with first defendant Hamām al-Kamūnī. Al-Ghūl denied the alleged friendship with al-Kamūnī.
