Following his offensive comments about the Qur'ān, Bishop Bishuy has been spending most of his time in his monastery. It is believed that he has been ordered by the Pope to stay out of the spotlight and away from the media. Many inside and outside the Church now call for him to be removed from his position as Church secretary, taking the possibility of him being the next Pope completely off the table.
