Pope Shenouda III met with Coptic businessman tycoon Rāmī Lakah after the pope’s weekly meeting last Wednesday. He talked him into running for the Shubrā parliamentary seat instead of al-Zāhir, which is currently occupied by Copt Khālid al-Assyūtī, who met with Pope Shenouda last Tuesday and asked him to interfere in fear of Lakah. He also promised the church’s full support and guaranteed the votes of all Copts in the district.
