Chief of the Shūrá Council Dr. Safwat al-Sharīf pointed out the significance of the upcoming parliamentary session and called upon all Egyptians to uphold the country’s best national interest. He confirmed the council’s support of political leaders who insist that Israel freeze the building of settlements. The council also denounced al-Qā‘idah’s threats to Egyptian churches and said that all Egyptians are keen on fighting for their nation’s security.
