Many issues were discussed at the “Al-fitnah al-tā’ifīyah: Reasons Behind the Phenomena” seminar. The seminar’s name was considered by some to be a misrepresentation of the situation in Egypt, as history shows that Egypt is for all Egyptians, regardless of their religious belief. Among the topics discussed were the closure of several fitnah-inducing satellite channels, Egyptian identity, historical facts leading to today’s sectarian tension, development projects for national unity, and the rise of fitnah-stirring.
