Church attendees in Cairo were asked to park their cars outside as ordered by state security following the threats against Egyptian churches made by al-Qā‘idah. An unnamed priest confirmed that all Egyptian churches are to engage in a special prayer for Egypt’s protection during today’s Sunday Mass. Copts for Egypt issued a statement announcing it will be organizing a silent protest next Monday outside the Iraqi embassy in Cairo mourning the Sayyidat al-Najāh victims and also protesting al-Qā‘idah’s threats. Group leader Hānī al-Juzayrī said that the protest will be attended by various leading Islamic figures.
