Coptic activist Būlus Ramzī told Sawt al-Ummah that the Pope only allows priests to join the ruling National Democratic Party. He says that the Church was outraged at Father Philopater Jamīl Rā‘ī for joining the al-Ghad Party and threatened to suspend him. He says that the Church supports the NDP for its own benefit and not for Copts.
