Tāriq Sibāq won Sāmih Antoine in popular Cairo district of Shubrā. The author refers to the sectarian influence on the elections. Muslims were shouting Islamic slogans to express their support for their fellow Muslim.

For his part, Antoine stated that he would not repeat the experience because of the blatant interference of the government in the elections.
