Researcher Khālid Muntasir writes about two emails that he recently received which he says represent what he calls the "master scene" that typically plays out in current Egyptian society.

The first email discusses an educated employee of a tourist company who yelled to a hijāb-wearing box office employee at the Citadel of Salāh a al-Dīn, ordering her to change the radio station from the Qurānic recitation to which she had been listening.

The second email deals with a young Christian male who was hired to do some decorating work inside a mosque, but was subsequently yelled at by one of his former school colleagues who supposed that, because his friend is a Christian, he is not allowed to be inside a mosque.
