The Sīdī Bishr district in Alexandria was the scene of a gruesome terrorist attack when a car exploded in front of al-Qidīsīn (Saints) Church immediately after New Year's mass.

This report says that witnesses claimed that the explosion came from a car parked parallel to the church, which resulted in the explosion of two additional cars.

This story, published immediately after the attack, reported that the number of causalities stood at 10 killed and more than 20 were wounded.

It reports that the Ministry of Interior issued a statement that hospitals had received 7 dead and 24 wounded, including 8 Muslims.

Tight security measures were implemented in all Alexandria churches following the scene.
