Moataz Bil Allah abd al-Fattah, a Political Science teacher at Cairo University and Michigan University in the U.S, stated that some of the important factors of the success for the revolution on January 25th was the strong social bond of the Egyptians; Muslims and Christians.
He also added that the previous political system tried to make Muslims and Christians clash with each other. Yet the previous system was not able to turn it into a civil war.
Abd al-Fattah also commented on the events around the 'Aftih Church saying: “I am angry because our Christian brothers protested in-front of the Church and we didn't join them”. We should have put ourselves in their shoes like if a Mosque was burned. He added that although there are fewer Christians than Muslims, they blend very well with the rest of the citizens. He advised that for the sake of Egypt one should not act as a Muslim or Christian only. If there was a fair and legitimate demand for Christians then it should be the priority of everyone to ask for this demand to be met.
However Abd al-Fattah also had a supporting opinion on the Second Article of the Constitution, suggesting that the Article should remain as it is.
He also demanded to have the freedom of choice between listing a persons religion in their national ID card or not.
