The Muslim Brotherhood Shūrá (Consultative) Council's selection of Muhammad Mursī as the head of their new Freedom and Justice Party, 'Isām al-'Iryān as its deputy head and Sa'd al-Katātnī as its Secretary-General, has been condemned by a number of Brotherhood members.

However, critics say this selection means that the group's leadership is imposing their full control on the new party and that the Brotherhood is lacking a clear vision.

They want the new party to be independent.

Furthermore, the Brotherhood is also suspected of training militas, as many of their younger members have engaged in military-style shows of physical strength in the past.
