Dozens of salafists gathered in front off the Qūs Police Station in Qena governorate on Thursday, May 12, 2011, to protest against handover of a Christian girl to her family in the village of al-Sibā'īyah, Idfū, Aswan governorate, after she reportedly converted to Islam.

Christine Wahīb 'Abd al-Masīh, 17, was reported absent by her family since Wednesday, May 11, 2011, while she was returning home from a tutorial class.

Christine admitted that she has converted to Islam with her own free will with no pressures by anyone.

The Qūs police station released Christine after having her family sign a restraining order.
