In mosques across the region on Friday, Muslim clerics preached tolerance and called for Muslim/Christian unity against acts of terrorism.

"Such crimes, which do not differentiate between Muslim and Christian or between a man and a woman, were rejected by the Prophet," says Egypt's Grand Muftī ‘Alī Jum‘ah.

Shaykh Yūsuf al-Qaradāwī stated that whether the culprits were Muslim or not, they have harmed Islam.

This article in the Egyptian Gazette reports that Endowments Minister Mahmūd Hamdī Zaqzūq instructed imāms to use their Friday sermons to preach tolerance and condemn the attack.

This was the first weekend since the deadly attack on a church in Alexandria just twenty minutes into the new year.
