Physicians and opticians of the al-Menya Medicine College sent me a message denouncing an article published by a colleague of them in the medical periodical Tabībak al-Khās (Your Special Doctor) under the title al-Qatra al-Qur'ānīyah or the Qur'ānic Drop that, they said, clashes with the simplest rules of science and can be classified only as "quackery".
The colleague, identified in the article with only his initials HZ, has come up with what he billed as "the Qur'ānic drop," which, he claims, was only some type of drop that, if taken by patients, can replace the effect of any surgeries.
HZ has cited a research that managed to come up with a special type of drop based on the Chapter Yūsuf (Joseph) in the Qur'ān that they claim have treated cataract.
The eye specialists of the college, in their message, said this proposal by HZ was complete nonsense and has nothing to do whatsoever with science or even any religion.
