The Egyptian people are the first among other nations when it comes to love for the Prophet Muhammed, Āl al-Bayt (the Prophet Muhammad's Household) and al-salaf al-sālih (good Muslim ancestors') and to respect for their teachings. Muslims and Christians have lived together in Egypt for thousands of years in peace when our country was free of salafists. From all the statements made by salafists, I find the statement of Shaykh Yāsir Burhāmī in which he accused Copts of Kufr is the most strange. Such statement indicates that Burhāmī has never read the holy Qur’ān that acknowledges Christianity and humans' right to choose their faith. It indicates as well that Burhāmī does not have much knowledge about the life of Prophet Muhammad who showed sympathy towards Christians and Jews in many occasions.
