Shaykh Sha'bān Darwīsh, a member of the Supreme Body of al-Nūr Party (Party of Light), demanded the issuance of a constitutional text explicitly allowing Copts to resort back to their Sharī'ah as a step towards getting rid of sectarian congestion and fears of the Islamic movements, particularly after the 25th of January revolution. Darwīsh pointed out that the Islamic parties that appeared after the revolution are new reformation trends rather than backwards ones as accused by some.
