In an opinion article in al-Shurūq al-Jadīd, Jamāl Qutb writes about the differences between the Azhar and the church administration. He said the Azhar administration is incapacitated and the church administration is overstepping its limits. The overstepping of the church is understandable but the deficiency of the Azhar is not acceptable he added.

The late Coptic Orthodox Pope Shenouda III had announced his rejection of visits to Jerusalem as long as it is occupied by Israeli forces, Qutb writes.
