Ahmad al-Jammāl writes an opinion article in al-Akhbār about hadīths where Prophet Muhammad stood up when he saw the funeral of a Jew and says other hadīths conveyed the same meaning.

Al-Jammāl then questioned the reason behind those who refused to stand up in parliament for a minute of silence to mourn Pope Shenouda's death and why didn’t they follow the same attitude the Prophet Muhammad did with the Jew's funeral.

“We, as Muslims, should respect everyone who worships Allāh in any sharī’ah of the heavenly religions,” according to al-Jammāl.
