Muhammad Mahdī ‘Ākif, the former murshid (guide) of the Muslim Brotherhood, said former minister housing Hasab Allāh al-Kafrāwī asked him to join him and former Arab League Secretary-General ‘Amr Mūsá, currently outside Egypt, to attend a meeting with SCAF members in an attempt to reach a solution defusing the mounting tension on the streets.
The Muslim Brotherhood admitted that former Speaker of the People’s Assembly Dr. Sa’d al-Katātnī held a second meeting with SCAF members last week on the current developments.
Dr. Hilmī al-Jazzār, a member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP)’s high office, said Katātnī conveyed to SCAF his discontent about dissolving the People’s Assembly and the release of the complementary constitutional declaration as “violation of popular and legal legitimacy”.
