Meanwhile, the lists of voters electing a new pope for the Coptic Orthodox Church in succession of Pope Shenouda III, who died in March, were placed on the notice boards of the St. Mark Cathedral in the Cairo district of al-‘Abbāssīyah and churches in governorates.

The eligible Coptic voters number 2594, including 139 women, of them 29 are nuns, six former and incumbent ministers, six members of parliament in its recent session and Coptic businessmen including Najīb Sawirus, Munīr Ghabbūr and Ramsīs Yūsuf.
