A source from the Coptic Orthodox appeal committee for the upcoming Coptic Orthodox papal elections said that a number of Bishop Bīshūy's (Bishoy) followers filed appeals against those who oppose the nomination of bishops and are against Bishop Bishoy of Damietta.

The source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the most prominent who had appeals against them are Bishop Serapion because he ordained female deacons in the diocese of Los Angeles in the United States.

An appeal was brought against Bishop Yūsuf of South America for allowing Bishop Mattias of Mahalah to pray when there was a decision of the Coptic Orthodox Holy Synod to suspend him.
