Dr. Ahmad Mahmūd ‘Atā Allāh, a member of parliament in al-Gharbia governorate, said he would forward a proposal to set up a committee for women inside the People’s Assembly considering the frail participation of women in parliament.

Female legislators are only eight, plus two by appointment, which would have their role marginalized if they were not supported through a committee inside the People’s Assembly, he said.
