Panic overcame visitors and neighboring houses when suddenly fire broke out in the Saint George Church in Manshiyīt al-Sadr, Cairo. Flames caught churches benches, relics and saints icons.

Six fire-fighting vehicles, led by the director of Cairo General Fire Brigade -the Civil Service, Sāmī Yūsuf, prevented the fire from expanding to other parts of the church building. An electrical short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
