The Evangelical Church in Tripoli, Libya has declared that it will not hold Easter Celebrations this year, as it fears anger and attacks from extremists. Recently there have been violent attacks against Christians in Libya, including the bombing of a church in Misrata, which killed two Egyptian Christians. There has also been an official crackdown on Christians accused of proselytizing which has seen dozens of Christians arrested and imprisoned. Allegations and evidence of abuse of the prisoners has caused angry demonstrations outside the Libyan Embassy in Cairo (Majdī Fikrī, al-Dustūr, Mar. 31, p. 16). Read original text in Arabic.
