A Muslim and Christian family had deadly clashes in al-Khusūs area of al-Khānkah in al-Qalyubia Governorate on April 7. The initial quarrel was between a Muslim and Christian but then evolved to a gun fight and cold weapons, leaving eight dead and 20 injured. Security forces went to the scene and forcibly dispersed the two parties after rumors that Muslims are going to attack Saint George Church.
It was said that Christians had drawn a Cross [a Swastika which is an equilateral cross with four arms bent at 90 degrees] and wrote discrediting statements against Muslims on the walls of an Azharian institution close to the Church.
The families of the two disputed Muslim and Christian interfered and they started exchanging fire, leaving one Muslim dead and three injured. The family of the Muslim burned four Christian houses, leaving four Christians dead.
Security forces interfered and contained the situation, additionally, deployed a security patrol on the area to prevent the arising of the clashes. More than seven people from both sides were arrested (Ahmad Sulaymān, al-Misrīyūn, Apr. 7, p. 11). Read original text in Arabic.
