Shaykh Yāsir Burhāmī, Vice President of Salafī Call spoke to al-Tahrīr about the visit to Dr. Ahmad al-Tayyīb, Grand Shaykh of the Azhar from al-Nūr Party. Their main goal of visiting the Azhar was to confirm the cooperation between Salafī Call, al-Nūr Party and the Azhar which has power to repair relations between Egypt and the Gulf states. Al-Tayyīb has come under pressure in the light of the two recent food poisoning scandals. Salafī Call do not wish to comment on public demands for al-Tayyīb to be dismissed.
Burhāmī believes that the Shī'ah spread is posing a threat to Egyptian national security, citing examples of the spread of Shi'ism in Sudan since the 80s and the current situation in Syria. In addition to this, Iran has requested Muhammad Mursi to allow the establishment of satellite channels and Shī'ahs to manage the Fatimid mosques in Egypt (Salāh Laban, al-Tahrīr, May 10, p. 7).
