A disappearance of a women, converted to Islam in 2009, angered Muslims in Asyut Governorate. Imān Jirjis Nazīr was married to ‘Imād Nakhnūk Samuel and had two children Remon and Rāmī. After converting, she married Muhammad Mahmūd Hasabū, 40-years-old, and lived with him for three years in Asyut. During the 3-years period, her ex-husband pressured her to consult Najīb Jubrā’īl, Church lawyer, in order to make an authorization for her ex-husband and give up her children or convert back to Christianity. The newspaper claimed that under pressure she made the authorization. She filed a report at Asyut Prosecution, stating that she was forced to do the authorization and that she wishes to remain Muslim and live with her Muslim husband.
After her disappearance, Hasabū filed a report accusing her ex-husband of kidnaping her (Husayn ‘Uthmān and Fātimah Jābir, al-Misrīyūn, May 7, p. 5). Read original text in Arabic.
