An official source said that Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II rejected the proposal of Dr. Safwat al-Bayādī, the head of the Coptic Evangelical Church, for the insertion of a chapter on civil marriage in Personal Status Law for non-Muslims. Pope Tawadros said that marriage is one of the Seven Sacraments of the Church which cannot be altered or standardized across the sects.
