Al-Minya governorate is witnessing a state of lawlessness, kidnappings, and thuggery after the eruption of the June 30th demonstrations. Security patrols have intensified in different places across the governorate, however, kidnappings and killings of Coptic citizens continue to terrorize the Coptic population in the governorate, especially after the kidnapping and murder of a Coptic Orthodox deacon from one of the churches. Further, there was a kidnapping of a Coptic worker at a pharmacy and the demand of a ransom from his family to release him.
