Security forces in Sohag returned a Christian man to his family after a dangerous gang kidnapped him two days ago. Filing a report on his missing brother, Majdī Amīn told the police that the gang had asked for 500 thousand Egyptian pounds as ransom in exchange of returning his 32-year old brother Nashꞌat. The prosecutor Muhsin al-Jindī’s investigations led to the identification of the gang’s members; having a large criminal record, Ahmad Ramadān (30) and Mahmūd Sābir (20) had pushed Nashꞌat forcibly in a white Peugeot car as he was leaving his  shop for sanitary goods. Two days later, they contacted Majdī to demand the ransom for his brother’s release. Further information disclosed that the kidnappers were holding Nashꞌat on Jazīrat Shandawīl, Sohag. Heavily armed police and security forces cordoned off the area. When they raided the detention place, the two criminals, who were long been chased by the police for committed crimes in the past, had fled leaving Nashꞌat behind unharmed (Khālid Hasan, al-Akhbār, Jan. 16, p. 18). Read original text in Arabic.
