An iftār [the meal that breaks Muslims’ fasting] for national union was held in the city of al- Mahmūdīyah (al-Beheira governorate), organized by “youth in love of Egypt” movement. Among the guests were several political parties and government officials. However, al-Hurīyah wal-‘Adālah Party, affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood group, did not attend.
In the occasion, Bishop Arthanius of Virgin Mary Church in the city of al-Mahmūdīyah said that Egypt regained its identity through the June 30 revolution, during which young people proved to be the future of this nation.
Shaykh ‘Abdullah Ahmad, Imām and preacher of al-Masjid al-Kabīr or “the big mosque”, confirmed the cohesion of the Egyptian people and the tight network of relations among Muslims and Christians for the common goal, who are sons of the same country. He also expressed his hope for Egypt to be soon out of the current crisis so Egyptians can live in stability and security (Muhammad ‘Allām, al-Dustūr, July 26, p. 2). The article has no link online.
