Father Safwat al-Bayyādī, head of the Coptic Evangelical Church, called for the repeal of Article 219 of the Constitution, which defines sharī'ah as the as the main source of legislation. Furthermore, he declared, they would demand a modification to the article that says that state and society are charged with the task of ensuring public order to ensure that only the state is responsible for maintaining  public order. On the other hand, Coptic Catholic Church media spokesman, Father Rafīq Greich, stated that the most important amendment for the Catholic Church is the abolition of Article 3, as he considers it a violation of the civil state that should not allow discrimination based on creed for Muslims, Christians, Jews, or to other groups (Mu'ataz al-Khusūsī and Nohā 'Uthmān, al-Misrīyūn, July 22, p. 4). Read original text in Arabic.
