In the village of Dilja, Minya governorate, Coptic churches and houses were targets of assaults by supporters of the deposed President. Father Ayub Yusuf (Ayūb Yūsif), pastor of the Coptic-Catholic St. George Church in Dilja, said that hundreds of Morsi's (Mursī) supporters knocked violently on Copts' doors and wrote abusive and offensive insults on them and young boys casually flung bricks and pebbles at the church. Father Ayūb added that those things happened outside of the village's five churches as some of the churches were closed or mass was finished early out of fear of being attacked (Islām El Shāzilī et al, al-Tahrīr, Aug. 3, p. 6).
