Police immediately arrived to the scene and intervened using tear gas and exchanged fire with people, during which a police officer was shot to his right arm and three young conscripts, aged 22 and 21, were wounded and taken to the hospital. The police arrested 20 people from the village, charged of rioting, disturbing public security and possessing unlicensed firearms. The head of the security forces assured that the security situation is calm and stable and that security leaders seek reconciliation to calm the situation between Muslims and Christians.
The public prosecutor of Al- Minya governorate immediately started the investigations on the clashes. The investigating team inspected the scene of the events and the losses, listened to the accounts of 12 of the wounded and issued an order to the criminal investigators to quickly submit their findings on the events.
